What I am stocking up up in for the Flu season!

It is this time of year again, the sun has gone, the leaves are falling and the temperatures are rapidly declining.
As an Asthmatic, I always get a flu jab, my GP practice provide this for me, you can enquire at yours, if you are interested.
My local chemist provide this service too, but I think you have to pay for it. Whether you believe in Vaccinations, it is your own choice, I do, therefore, I make sure my family get one too.

Because I cannot take over the counter cold and flu remedies, I like to look towards other areas that can make me feel a little more human.

C.O Bigelow cold and flu bath soak, this soothes aches and pains and eases congestion, with Eucalyptus, Peppermint,Willow Bark Echinacea and Ginger.

This turns the bath water blue, but do not worry, you do not come out a smurf!  ..well actually..... I would love to visit smurfland!

This is a tad pricey, so if your budget does not stretch that far then KNEIPP EUCALYPTUS COLD SEASON BATH SALTS are alot cheaper.

If you have an essential oil burner, then some Eucalyptus oil is handy to burn as ...
Eucalyptus is one of the best oils to use during colds, flu’s and other infections. Use it in a steam inhalation to relieve congestion during a cold or a sinus infection, or a sore throat. Eucalyptus oil is also antiviral and antibacterial, and helps to fight the cold virus. Burn a few drops of Eucalyptus in an essential oil burner during the flu season.
As with all Essential oil, read the instructions and make sure you are using them correctly. I always buy TISSERAND, never had a problem with any of their products, so I stay with what I know.

I always try to stock up in PARACETAMOL, as this is an effective way of reducing temperatures and soft tissues, the KLEENEX BALSAM are my favourite.
I always have a stock of soft handkerchiefs in as well, in case I want a change from a tissue.

Vicks VapoRub is a firm favourite too, I do not think it is the same as the one you could buy years ago, but it still can be effective, I prefer rubbing it on my back, but it does make a mess of your jammies!

Can anyone remember the old fashioned night burner ( I am going back quite a while!) where you had this silver oil burner and you place a tea light in it, so it gently released the solution during the night, I remember as a child, I used to find the flickering of the candle quite comforting and watching it used to make me drowsy, thus helping me sleep- alas they do not make it anymore ...sigh

I am a firm believer in hand washing as well I do not use gels as a short cut to this, they are handy in some circumstances, but it will never replace hand washing in my house!

I get a pot of Honey in, the runny type, even though I cannot stand the stuff, it is good for sore throats, but sometimes I think I would rather suffer the sore throat, than reach everytime I smell the darn stuff!!:P

Warm jammies, lots of my favourite films, plenty of water to drink and rest, but I have always got those in stock !

One thing that I do always have in the house is DETTOL WIPES as I like to go around the house post cold ( and during, especially if sneezing everywhere) as the makers say that ...

Dettol Antibacterial Surface Cleanser kills 99.9% of bacteria, including E. coli, salmonella, MRSA and the flu virus.

I think I have covered everything, I am sure there are things that you like to do or stock up on, but I thought I would share with you mine.

I shall go now and leave you lovely people, until next time!

Everything is coming up rosy! | Korres |Wild Rose advanced sleeping repair mask

Just let me say that this smells divine! I really did not like 'Rose' products at all in my youth, did not like the smell, but I am so glad that I got over that, as I am really enjoying using this!

Freaking Love this! | Oskia | Renaissance Mask

Blurb -
With MSM, Passion Fruit, Grape, Lemon & Grapefruit AHA's, Papaya Enzymes, Swiss Garden Cress Liposomes, Prebiotics, Ribose & Butterbur.

For all skin types
For immediate spa facial results and long term anti-ageing & brightening. Designed to increase cell turnover, boost radiance and packed with OSKIA’s trademark blend of beauty-boosting nutrients, this luxuriously-textured exfoliating mask leaves the complexion smoother, more refined and illuminated. Our testing panel thought its natural perfume so delicious they wanted to eat it! Suitable for all skin types and with a fresh aromatic scent combining rose, passion fruit and chamomile, all organically certified, OSKIA’s Renaissance Mask works hard to remove tired skin cells and boost cell regeneration and ATP energy without aggressively stripping the top layers of the epidermis. Pink initially, the luxurious and uniquely textured cream turns white once properly massaged into the skin, helping clients know when it’s been applied effectively.
I have been trying this mask now for a good month or so, I have been using this twice a week, and I have to say, that I am really happy with this, combined with the cleanser, it makes for a happy face!

If you have a keen sense of smell, then you might think it smells a tad 'weird', that's the only word that came to mind when thought how to explain it, I have to say that the more you use it, the less you seem to mind it.

As you can see, it is a beautiful pinkish colour, the texture is smooth, yet quite thick and holds it shape, I use the provided spatula to scoop out, no finger dipping in this mask!

It is quite interesting, because, when you have applied, and smoothed in, it turns white and this according to the makers, is when the mask starts to work and you know that you have applied it correctly.
I tend to do things when I have a mask on, like writing my blog or washing up for example so time does seem to fly by and it is left on for longer than the suggested 10 - 20 mins will no ill effect.
When it comes to taking it off, I always splash my face with some luke warm water and give myself a little massage and the mask turns a little milky, then I rinse off with a flannel or muslin cloth making sure that all of the mask is taken off.

Final Thoughts -

I bought this because I had read alot of positive talk about it and had seen it pop up everywhere, so had to try it, just in case I was indeed missing out on a potential holy grail product.
I do like this and will most defiantly be buying another pot when this runs out, as you can see, I am 'hitting pan' as it were

I thought the smell of it was going to be an issue ( I have a very keen sense of smell) BUT it works and makes my skin feel soft, and it looks fresh and clean afterwards, so I put up with it. My mum actually likes the smell, so its just me obviously!

Oskia is defiantly a brand that I wish to investigate more, and its British .. yaay, go us!

It comes in a 50 ML jar and sets you back a cool £49.50
If you would like to know more about Oskia click here and it will take you to the web page and you can read to your hearts content.

For me, this beats Liz Earl | Aurelia | Probiotic Cleanser

Can I take a moment to just stick my nose into my pot and take a good 'ole sniff? it smells divine!

*takes off the lid and procedes to take a good sniffaroo*

I just love using this in the mornings, as it really wakes up me and my skin, its soft and creamy and is really good for working it into all the nooks and cranny's of my face to give them a good clean.

Am I mad? | spending this much on a face balm? | May Lindstrom | Blue Cocoon

Can I just hold up my hands and to admit to this being the most expensive pot of face balm I have EVER purchased... well it is and I have to say, it IS most defiantly worth every penny....

I cannot remember, where or how I came across this deliciously smelling balm, but I am sooo glad that I did.

Yes, it is incredibly expensive and yes I had to justify this purchase to my wallet, but, this is the state of my pot after having this for about a year, I will say that I have not used this every night and sometimes not for weeks, but you do not need much each application, so the jar will last me a long while yet.

There is something incredibly soothing about this balm, the smell, for one, is akin to expensive chocolate, it is quite fragrant, but not in a irritating way and to be honest, cannot actually pin down what it smell like, just to say that it smells like MAY LINDSTROM THE BLUE COCOON , anyone who has smelt it once, will never forget it :)

It is in a solid form in the jar - which I might add, is gorgeous in itself- but with the heat of your hands, when applying or rubbing between fingers, solidifies and the texture changes enabling you to give yourself a lovely little gentle massage, whilst breathing in the scent.

From what I can gather, the colour comes from the BLUE TANSY a powerful anti-inflammatory that reduces redness and soothe irritated skin, it also boasts to have antibacterial, antihistamine, and general anti-inflammatory properties,I used this on a rather sore and angry patch of dry skin on my daughter and by the morning it was soothed, still there, but so much more comfortable for her and that's the honest truth.

There is defiantly something soothing to the soul and mind in this too, I find that if I am a little agitated or stressed, I put this on before bed and it for some reason I am relaxed, whether this is a placebo effect and its all in the mid, the smell triggers off some reaction in the brain to say, 'you can relax now' I am not sure, BUT it works for me and that's all that matters, so not only do I have lovely skin in the morning, I awake feeling a little better mentally.

It is cruelty free, organic and all the ingredients are ethically sourced and wildgrown and I like that:)

So, for me, this is worth the money.  If I was not in a position to fork out for this, and at the time I was, I have looked into other products that might be similar but not in the higher price range and discounting Sunday Riley ( I have heard that they use colourant to make it look blue) I came across
KAHINA GIVING BEAUTY   their lip and face balm, I have not tried this or anything of their range, but this is one that I would be interested in taking a look at.

In Conclusion

Love it and will most defiantly buy more when this runs out, Would love to try more of her products, but might have to mortgage the house for that!
